The CBOT is composed of four contract divisions. The symbology is consistent among them. Both futures and options on futures are traded.
The CBOT currently trades in three sessions, Regular Trading Hours (RTH), Evening Trading Hours (ETH), and a Globex session (GBX). See the trading hours table for codes for the different hours for each session. Symbols for futures on the RTH and ETH sessions use the RTH session month codes as listed in the Instruments & Symbols table.
The symbol template for futures is Smy where S is the symbol, m is the month code, and y is the last digit of the year.
The symbol template for options on futures is -Smsss where S is the symbol, m is the month code, and sss is a two- or three-digit strike price. Note: Options on futures require a "negative sign" or "dash" (-) before the symbol.
Strike Price: RTH and ETH = 2 or 3 digits / GBX = 4 digits
